Buckeye Butterfly
Artist's Notes: I somehow ended up painting a small series of insects that I found interesting as part of the fall 2008 show Evergreen. The images were lifted out from an abstracted background of wet into wet dense color, then detailed after drying. I found a pearlescent watercolor medium that added the slight metallic dusting to the wings, very similar visually to the real thing.
